Wild Wild Wolves

What a bad rap the Gray Wolf has taken. He has been depicted in fairytale and story as a trickster who huffs and puffs and blows houses down. It has been said that he disguises himself as poor little Granny in order to fool Little Red. We are led to believe that the Gray Wolf attacks when the moon is full.

One of our guided reading groups read the nonfiction book Wild Wild Wolves by Joyce Milton to discover the real facts about wolves. Milton packs in plenty of information as she examines the history of wolves, their social order and hunting tactics, and looks at the portrayal of wolves in books, myths, and movies. We discovered some intereting information during our reading and webbed our new learning with each reading. We then put all of our new knowledge together to tell others the TRUTH about "The Big Bad Wolf!"
We know him as Not Big, Not Bad, Just a Gray Wolf!

What do our students know about wolves? Read some of their facts.
