Your Type of Community
Definitions taken from Communities Near and Far, James Banks, 1993, Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, NY, grade 3.
Communities are alike in many ways. All have people living, working, playing and sharing special events. People live in different types of communites, some are large and some are small. Some communities depend on different natural resources. Use these definitions to determine your type of community.

Rural Community - A community that is surrounded by forests or farms. Most towns and villages are located in rural areas.

Urban Community - A city and the suburbs around it.

Suburban Community - A community located near a big city. It is usually not as big as a city and the houses are farther apart.
