The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Dave Coziahr at 5:04 p.m.

VII. WE ARE PROUD OF OUR SCHOOLS
· A.L. student Dallas Beck will be honored during a March 16th recognition luncheon jointly sponsored by the Iowa Association for Career and Technical Education, Iowa Department of Education, and the Iowa Department of Economic Development. He is being recognized for his leadership as the DECA District Vice President and his role in planning the DECA conference attracting more than 3,000 DECA students.· Edison special education teacher Nick Moore will soon be featured on television station KXVO as a "Star of Education." One of Mr. Moore's students nominated him for this award, presented to him last week by representatives of the Metropolitan Omaha Education Consortium and the television station. He joins two other Council Bluffs teachers who have been named Stars of Education.
· Thomas Jefferson freshman students Paul Hayden and Rachel Kuenning have won first and third places respectively among the hundreds of middle and high school students across the state of Iowa who submitted essays for the 22nd Annual "Write Women Back Into History" essay contest, sponsored by the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women. On March 8th, Hayden, Kuenning and their families, will be honored at a special awards ceremony with Iowa Lt. Governor Sally Pederson, introduced to the Senate and House of Representatives, and tour the State Capitol building. Their English teacher is Jane Hanigan-Kinney. In his essay honoring Edna Griffin, Hayden likened Ms. Griffin to famed civil rights advocate Rosa Parks, while Rachel promoted Denison, Iowa, native Donna Reed, as a pioneer in the advancement of women in television.

Mark McGee referenced the Finance Committee meeting held on February 16, 2006 and thanked the members of the committee for their time and input.Dave Coziahr referenced that on February 22, 2006 he represented the District at the Pottawattamie County Assessors meeting.
