I. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order by President Gina Malloy at 5:00 p.m.

II. ROLL CALL

Members Present: Marvin Arnpriester (5:20 p.m.), Melanie Bates (5:40 p.m.), Mark Brandenburg, Dave Coziahr, Janine Headen, Mark McGee and Gina Malloy.

III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

BE IT RESOLVED that the agenda as submitted be approved.

The meeting was called to order by President Gina Malloy at 6:30 p.m.

II. ROLL CALL

III. INVOCATION

The invocation was led by Pastor Jeff Kraft from Dodge Memorial Christian Church.

VII. WE ARE PROUD OF OUR SCHOOLS

Dr. Richard H. Christie presented "High Fives" to the following:

· Roosevelt sixth grader, Brandon Brown - State Opus Honor Choir
· Abraham Lincoln Junior Air Force ROTC drill, rifle and color guard teams - National Championship Honors at the VFW National Championship Drill Meet
· Kirn teacher, Dwain Pedersen - Eagles Lodge Teacher of the Year
· Abraham Lincoln High School business teacher, Wayne Norman - Area 13's Outstanding Secondary Business Educator
· Washington Elementary teacher, Deb McArthur - Saturday "Library Club" for students and families

VIII. BOARD'S REPORT

Marvin Arnpriester referenced that he was preparing for the Urban Education Network meeting.

Janine Headen referenced the following:

· October 25th Board meeting question on Para-educators and classroom supervision
· Concerned about warrant review process
· Condolences to the family of Amber Rae Mellor
· Attended 10th anniversary of ROTC and offered congratulations to the Abraham Lincoln Junior Air Force ROTC drill, rifle and color guard teams as National Champions.
· Would like to see schedules/transportation issues worked out so Thomas Jefferson students could participate in ROTC.
· Questions about "Our Students" publications
· Complaints from staff and parents about schools being un-manned by Principals
· Early dismissals and late starts
· Negotiations team representatives for teachers
· Process for policies to be reviewed outside of schedule
· Reimbursement to Baccalaureate committee for use of facility
· Reimbursement to Council Bluffs Chamber for Ambassadors trip to Washington D.C.
· Public Participation comment regarding Board Members being paid.

Dave Coziahr referenced the following:

· Iowa Association of School Boards meeting in Ames
· Early Childhood Development research from Oklahoma

Mark McGee referenced the following:

· Liked agenda item "We are Proud of Our Schools"
· Preparing for Iowa Association of School Board and Urban Education Network meetings

Gina Malloy referenced the following:

· Responded to Mrs. Headen's question regarding adding policies to review schedule
· Acknowledged Children's Square Jason award honorees
· Extended sympathies to the family of Amber Rae Mellor

IX. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Dr. Richard H. Christie, Superintendent of Schools referenced the following:

X. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

(This is an opportunity for members of the public to address the Board regarding agenda items or other matters of concern.)

Joyce Farrington addressed the Board.

XI. DISCUSSION WITH LEGISLATORS

Representative Doug Struyk addressed the Board regarding the upcoming Legislative Session.

XII. CONSENT ITEMS

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors approves the following consent items:

A. Approves the contract with Cox Communications to provide the District's Internet connection. (As recommended by the Superintendent)
